They met in Québec, Canada, she of French descent, he of Belgian. For 55 years they have lived a happy married life. And now, since last May, the Courtrights have continued their happiness at Friendship Manor.
Born in Trois-Pistoles, Province of Québec, Yvette Côté attended Teachers Training Boarding School and taught in an elementary school at Les Petites Bergeronnes, Québec. After a business course she became a legal secretary while studying English. In Toronto, Canada, she translated a catalog from English into French for a firm of importers. After her marriage to Maywood Courtright, she moved to Muskegon Heights, Michigan, where later on, she served two terms as mayor. All through her adult life, no [matter] what work she engaged in, she did volunteer work as well.
After her husband's retirement, they traveled for five years to Europe, Alaska, Mexico, British Honduras, Puerto Rico, and Santa Cruz, California, before settling down at Friendship Manor. This charming couple appear ten years younger that their chronological age and have adjusted quickly to their new environment. They are a welcome addition to the Manor league of many nationalities.
